Meeting up with Producer Joshua Rumer for writing, arranging, programming and vocal sessions, the two were able to explore the musical universe with absolutely no guidelines and zero comprehension of time. Her existing catalog was vast and expansive with more candy than Wonka's warehouse before Agustus showed up. Filtering through the ideas became task one, dropping beats shortly after and then the Mike Taylor/Toshi Yanagi/Solomon Snyder bomb was dropped on the tracks and...well once Stewart Cararas got his grubby paws on it...errrr...you know where we are going with this. With the foundation for the new sound in place, she took the mic.
Meliss FX has had an exciting ride thus far in the music industry and, according to the map, there are dangerous curves ahead. Her sassy vocal rhythms have been heard over house, electro, jazz, funk and drum ‘n bass in clubs and festivals around the globe. Meliss FX is an electronic fusion singer/songwriter who believes the following: "music is God’s key. His puzzle piece and clue he left behind for the world." Early in her career Meliss FX shared the stage with Linda Rondstadt and toured as a backup vocalist with Barry Manilow. Recently she has collaborated with Sandra T, Brian Jordan, Michael Anthony, Jason Sterling, Lee Landis and many other up-and-coming producers and DJs. Both as a recording and performing artist Meliss FX has energy and passion that audiences describe as an uplifting, powerful experience.
'Hustle and Bustle' is a song about the random madness in the city. Filled with her trademark sarcasm and honest wit, this one is a lyrical snapshot of the mind that wants to change things for the better. Painting pictures of the west coast and leading by example, she pulls rock punches with 'Ego Evolution'. The aggression of this number lets her audience know that she means serious business. In one of her lyrics,"We are the aliens" seems to be the statement of those that know about how much humans are causing our world to crumble. Being a foster parent to a family of manatees, a lucky dog Eddie and a keeper of lizards, birds and fish, her love for our environment makes her not only a unique artist but one of the best people we have ever met.
Finishing like a shiraz, buttery and lasting, "Less and Less" it where we get to see the side of Melissa that only her closest and dearest friends have the luxury of knowing. Behind that eco-warrior there is a human being, just like you, that witnessed something of spiritual value slip through their fingers...because they had to. When you hear it, you'll get it.
As of fall 2007, Meliss FX is currently assembling her live players, recording the finishing touches on an album and can always be found with a pen and paper jotting her thoughts down relentlessly.
